» Feature Writer Georgene A. Bramlage - Are the online sites which charge worth the cost?

I was wondering if you knew anything about this website: begins an e-mail in this morning's mail.

(I've delected the name and URL of the site as I do not know anything about them or their product.)

Here is the rest of the e-mail:

It looks like they have a bunch of landscaping pictures and also a paid section with more landscaping ideas. Didn't know if you have ever used them or if it was a waste of money. I need help coming up with ideas for my home.

Do any of you readers have any thoughts about online landscape photo sites?

G.

Good Morning!

No reader of this Landscaping topic ever responded to this post. However, many of you readers did show interest in knowing more about landscaping photos and residential landscaping pictures.
In direct reponse to this interest generated by readers of Landscaping at Suite101, I begin a series of articles this month (March, 2007) about landscape photographs and residential landscaping pictures online.
The series focuses on:
* Photos making good landscape design tools;
* Occasional reviews of online landscaping photo sites based on cost, user-friendliness and practicality; and
* Sporadic reviews of online photo sites featuring historical and traditional gardens.
The series begins with these two articles:
* Residential Landscaping Pictures: Make use of landscape design and landscape idea photos.
* Landscaping Photographs Online: Internet sites that offer landscape pictures vary significantly.
In direct reponse to the reader's questions, I can say that:
*I have not had any direct use of the sites for whch a reader needs to pay a fee or have a subscription...so can not determine whether or not they are "a waste of money."
*I do enjoy looking through the sites that are free of charge to see how I might improve my own garden / plant photography.
*For help / ideas about landscpaing your own home, please continue reading the landscaping at Suite101 articles (including the archived ones - there is a lot of "good stuff" there) and other plant related articles here at Suite101.
I'd love to hear any comments from you readers about the articles, and/or landscaping photographs.
Cheers!
Georgene

Here are three more articles written in response to the initial question about landscape photographs:

Garden Design and Structure: a review of the book An Encyclopedia of Garden Design and Structure: Ideas and Inspiration for Your Garden.

Landscape Desgn, Tips and Terms: a review and synopsis of the Introduction to Garden Design and Structure.

International Garden Photographs: a review and synopsis of the garden and flower photographs at an online travel site.

As always, please send an email with ideas and suggestions to me at landscaping@suite101.com.
