» dorhartshorne - Landscaping fabric and trees

Landscaping fabric should not be placed underneath a trees canopy as it will inhibit the nutrient exchange nessecary for healthy tree and root growth. Mulching around the base of a tree out to the drip line with good organic mulch will provide weed supression without harming the tree.

In response to Landscaping fabric and trees posted by dorhartshorne:

Thank you for the reminder...

The basis formulching under trees is the the "root flare" needs should be uncovered by fabric and any kind of mulch. The "root flare" will vary in circumferance and thickness depending upon the type of tree and age.
