Trees are Terrific...and Forests are Too! is the theme of the 2007 Poster Contest sponsored by the National Arbor Day Foundation. Open to 5th grade students, nationwide. Deadlines vary by state and are available along with state coordinators - to whom entries should be sent - and e-mail addresses at The National Poster Contest (interactive) Map.
The National Arbor Day Poster Contest can be an important part of the fifth grade science curriculum and can be easily added to teachers' lesson plans. Poster-related activities correlate with national science, geography and art standards. Educators can request FREE copies of the 2007 Arbor Day National Poster Contest Activity Guide.
Educational goals of the Poster Contest are:
- to provide children with an understanding of Arbor Day;
- to teach about the important benefits of trees locally and globally; and
- to inspire them to learn about the value of forest ecosystems.
