Gardeners in the northern hemisphere watch the sun as the June solstice marks the year's longest day – the first day of summer. South of the equator, it is winter.

A dynamic series of photos celebrating the summer solstice (June 21) is offered by The Earth & Sky radio series and web site. I am a great lover of radio, and Earth and Sky reports are among my favorite sources of information. This series is heard by millions of listeners each day on more than 1,000 commercial and public radio affiliates in the United States, on the Sirius and XM Satellite Radio networks, and internationally on dozens of independent stations and networks including

American Forces Radio, World Radio Network, and Voice of America. Can't find Earth & Sky in your area? Check the web site link or telephone your local radio station, and ask them to add this free service. You may also listen to daily radio reports online.
