Thanksgiving wishes to all my American readers. Plant wisely and enjoy thankfully.

Learn how to help protect native American plants and animals by following these six easy guidelines set out by the Nature Conservancy.

Here is one of the most important guidelines for those designing landscapes to follow :

  • Make sure the plants you choose for landscape projects are not invasive. Replace invasive plants with non-invasive alternatives. There are many and easy to find.

Study “the animals of the country, & especially those not known in the U.S. … the dates at which particular plants put forth or lose their flower, or leaf, times of appearance of particular birds, reptiles, or insects."

~ President Thomas Jefferson’s official orders for the Lewis and Clark expedition
